Simple Alfredo Sauce


This is my go-to recipe for Alfredo sauce. When I have them available, I will add a little cream cheese to taste for an even creamier sauce, but the sauce is just as good without it.



Ingredients:

  • 2 c heavy whipping cream
  • 1/2 c Parmesan cheese
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • Sea salt and cracked pepper, to taste
  • Fresh or dried parsley, to taste
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • Romano or mozzarella, to taste
  • Optional: Cream cheese

Directions:
  1. Over low heat, melt butter in non-stick pan and add garlic. Once garlic becomes fragrant, stir in whipping cream and blend well.
  2. Add Parmesan cheese and stir until sauce thickens. Season with salt and pepper. Do not allow the sauce to come to a boil.
  3. If desired, thicken sauce with more Parmesan cheese or thin with more cream. For an even creamier sauce, add cream cheese in a little by little.
  4. Pour sauce over cooked pasta. Toss and sprinkle Romano and/or mozzarella cheese and parsley over all and serve.

  2. It makes approximately 2 3/4 to 3 cups, depending on how much cheese you use. It freezes very well, too.
